SHUT DOWN NOTICE
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL SERVICE PROVIDERS AND CONSULTANTS DOING BUSINESS WITH THE
MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
At this time, it has been determined that a government shutdown will take place as of 12:00 am, October 1, 2009. This shutdown does not affect any active construction projects or those consultants performing an essential role on an active construction project. These projects will remain ongoing.
1. If your private sector firm or entity is performing services under an existing contract or authorization that is to extend into FY 2010, that does not involve an essential role in an active construction project, please be advised that all such authorizations shall be suspended on October 1, 2009, and resumed after the end of the shut-down period. You will not be reimbursed for any costs incurred during the shut-down period, except as separately and independently authorized as part of an emergency shut-down plan.
2. If your private sector firm or entity is anticipating beginning work under a contract or authorization which is scheduled to be effective on or about
October 1, 2009, and does not involve an essential role in an active construction project, such authorization is hereby postponed until after the end of the shut-down period. You will not be reimbursed for any costs incurred during the shut-down period, except as separately and independently authorized as part of an emergency shut-down plan.
3. Depending on the length of the shut-down period and the resultant actual impacts to your work, you may be entitled to an extension of time on your authorization or contract.
4. THIS IS THE ONLY NOTICE YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM MDOT regarding the beginning of the shut-down period. MDOT shall rely on you to consult the news media outlets in your service area for official notification regarding the beginning of the shut-down period. Once the shut-down is over, MDOT will issue a notice to resume work, which will also be posted on MDOT’s Web site and shared with the media.
MDOT appreciates your patience during this time and we value our relationship with you.
Sincerely,
Myron G. Frierson, Bureau Director
Finance and Administration
Michigan Department of Transportation
