Through Culvert, Benton Harbor
Mead & Hunt
Southwest Michigan Regional Airport's runway extension required rerouting Sand Creek with a 600-foot-long culvert. Fish likely could not swim that length at once. Mead & Hunt designed a meandering, two-stage channel, with resting pools and riffles within the culvert, a design unique in the US and possibly internationally.

After the Nine Mile Road Bridge over I-75 collapsed, MDOT chose a design/build delivery approach to complete emergency repairs. This plan provided the quickest method to reconstruct and reopen the bridge to traffic, and design the associated improvements of I-75 including reconstruction of the freeway, drainage, and super-elevation modifications.

J&A utilized the results of a comprehensive water model to solve WBT's system pressure problems with fewer districts, closed valves, and smaller diameter water main loops. The result was a reliable, remotely-controlled water system that solved long-standing high-pressure problems and saved the community millions in DWRF loan monies.
