The Brandenburg Park shoreline and habitat restoration project introduced resilient solutions that addressed a failing seawall while increasing the diversity of the shoreline habitat. Fishbeck
SSI and Fishbeck completed data collection for the resurfacing and electrical improvements of the Eastbound Bluewater Bridge. Multiple LiDAR collection methods were used including a Terrestrial 3D Tripod Scanner and Mobile LiDAR scanners on both an SUV and a boat to capture the entire bridge simultaneously.

After more than 50 years, I-375 is nearing the end of its service life and requires modernization to an at-grade boulevard. Spicer Group provided, and continues to provide, a variety of surveying services using both traditional and cutting-edge remote sensing technology which are key in helping engineers design and reconstruct the damaged Sanford and Edenville Dams, bringing back Sandford and Wixom Lakes, implementing earth stabilization work and prioritizing problem areas.

The City of Benton Harbor embraced the concepts of an integrated Asset Management Plan. The community now has a strategy based upon data, engineering, and financial realities; restored public confidence; renewed private investment that will enhance financial sustainability; and the support of governmental agencies based upon the strategy’s success.

The Village of Cassopolis envisioned a vibrant community space for its citizens and visitors. Working with Wightman, a sweeping transformation has created a beautiful streetscape; sandy beach featuring a diving and fishing pier, new pavilion, and wide walkways for gathering; a safe pedestrian corridor; and a stunning municipal complex.

Frankenmuth, one of Michigan’s popular tourist destinations, was partially protected from Cass River flooding by a levee. Frankenmuth hired MEC to address levee deficiencies needed for re-certification. MEC and FKE prepared innovative designs including pile-supported flood walls and a multi-functional Riverwalk, which now provides flood resilience.

Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy launched the Industrial Pretreatment Program Initiative to reduce and eliminate discharges of certain polyfluoralkyl substances from industrial sources that may pass through wastewater treatment plants. In response, EGLE selected NTH to conduct a collective study of leachate from landfills in Michigan.

This project transformed a former lumberyard into a community gathering place and cultural center, complete with a four-season event pavilion, food truck court, central green, clock tower, landscaping, and plenty of seating. After a much-publicized seawall collapse on the Detroit River, G2 provided geotechnical investigation and design services for the slope stabilization efforts resulting in a new state-of-the-art seawall spanning 500 feet of shoreline, supported by a secondary battered pile structure, creating a safe, secure and economical solution for Revere Dock LLC.

Gelman Sciences’ manufacturing process unintentionally created bromate from its treatment process of 1,4-dioxane. Fleis & VandenBrink worked with Gelman to remediate the contamination per an NPDES permit. We designed a drone with a water sampling device to collect samples in a creek, saving time and money, and protecting the environment.

The $12 million Thompson State Hatchery Renovation produces 420,000 more fish with new technology and state-of-the-art systems. Completed on budget and on schedule, the new coolwater facility, feeding systems, development ponds, resurfaced raceways, and upgrades to Little Manistee weir provide a bright future for Michigan’s $4.4 billion sport fishing economy.

The Jackson County Department of Transportation, with consultant Fleis & VandenBrink, came up with an innovative way to save $5 million on 1.5-miles of improvements on McDevitt Avenue. The bottom-up approach to the cross-section roadway design used 10 inches of Bound Aggregate Base material as the road base.

Located in Keene Township, Ionia County, the historic Whites Bridge Road covered bridge stood for 144 years until it was destroyed by arson in 2013. AECOM designed the replacement covered bridge superstructure to closely reproduce the original structure while meeting modern code and load requirements.

Spalding DeDecker provided survey services for Detroit Zoological Society’s various land redevelopments at the Detroit Zoo including KidZone project, main visitor parking lot mapping, and GIS database. SD used LiDAR technology to noninvasively capture a vast amount of survey data with minimal interruptions to daily Zoo operations.

ROWE performed all work for the I-196 design survey for Michigan Department of Transportation. Located in Walker, Michigan, this project intended to assist with consultant design for replacement of two bridge structures, interchange improvement, and I-196 mainline upgrades. Despite the winter weather, the team successfully completed complex and variable surveying.
